The 1st FIBA Masters Open will take place in early July in Greece, across a wide coastal zone extending from Western Attica to the Corinthian Gulf. Competition and training venues will be distributed across the areas of Elefsina, Megara, Mandra, Agioi Theodoroi, Nea Peramos, Loutraki, Corinth, Vrachati, Velo, Kiato, Xylokastro and Derveni.
The geographical spread of the Event has been carefully selected to ensure excellent accessibility, efficient mobility, and a high-quality experience for participants and accompanying guests. All hosting cities are located along the national coastal transport axis and are directly connected through railway and road infrastructure, enabling seamless movement between Athens, the venues, accommodation sites, and leisure destinations.
International Arrival and Access from Athens International Airport
Athens International Airport (AIA – Eleftherios Venizelos) serves as the main international gateway for all participants, officials and guests.
Railway Connection: A direct suburban railway (Proastiakos Railway) operates from Athens International Airport and connects the airport with:
Western Attica areas (Megara, Elefsina)
The wider Corinth region (Agioi Theodoroi, Corinth, Kiato, Xylokastro and beyond)
Frequency and Reliability: Trains operate at regular intervals throughout the day, offering a reliable and cost-effective transportation option for all accredited individuals.
Intermodality: Railway stations are located close to city centres and provide access to local public transport networks with shuttle services and taxis.
Participants and accompanying guests are encouraged to use rail transport as a sustainable and efficient means of reaching the Event areas.
Connectivity with the City of Athens
All Event areas are also connected to the city centre of Athens through:
Suburban railway services
Regional bus services (KTEL)
National highway network
This connectivity allows participants and guests to:
Travel easily between Athens and the host cities
Combine sporting participation with cultural, historical and leisure activities in Athens
Enjoy flexibility during rest days or outside competition hours
Dedicated Transportation System by the Local Organizing Committee (LOC)
The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) will implement a dedicated shuttle transportation system designed specifically for the needs of the Event.
This system will connect:
All official competition venues
The accommodation sites (hotels) officially proposed by the LOC
The centre of the main hosting cities Loutraki, Corinth, Kiato and Xylokastro, as well as other areas that the LOC will identify as of greater interest and will be used as entertainment hubs
These cities offer:
Beaches and coastal promenades
Restaurants, cafés and local gastronomy
Cultural sites and landmarks
Shopping and leisure activities
This approach supports the Event’s objective of combining high-level sporting competition with an enhanced overall experience, allowing participants and guests to explore and enjoy the host regions.
The shuttle system aims to ensure punctual arrival for training sessions and competitions, and to provide a safe, reliable and comfortable transportation experience
The dedicated transportation system set up by LOC will be available exclusively to the accredited participants, the registered accompanying guests, and other accredited people as defined by the LOC
Access to the shuttle system will require official Event accreditation.
Limitations and Participant Responsibility
The dedicated transportation system provided by the LOC will only cover the hotels and accommodation sites officially proposed by the LOC.
Participants who choose to stay:
In non-designated hotels
In private accommodation (e.g. apartments, short-term rentals)
will be fully responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from competition venue or other locations incorporated into the Event’s program
The LOC strongly recommends booking accommodation exclusively from the official list in order to benefit from the full transportation services offered.
Operational Principles and Additional Information
Transportation schedules will be aligned with competition and training timetables.
Shuttle services will comply with safety, accessibility and operational standards.
Clear signage, meeting points and transport information will be available at hotels, venues and railway stations.
Real-time updates and detailed transportation guides will be communicated through official Event channels.
Transportation Support by Local Authorities

The exact routes, schedules and operating hours of these services will be finalized and communicated after confirmation of all venues and finalization of competition schedule.
